Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our extensive two-story house renovation came in on time and on budget, to a standard of construction that absolutely delighted us. This was entirely due to the efficiency and organisation of Jamie at Totem. His communication is outstanding. We received an email from him every Friday telling us what progress had been made and what we might expect to happen the following week. If we had questions he would take a little time to give us accurate and informative answers, but never leave us hanging. We were even able to go away for a couple of months in the middle of the build because we knew and trusted our builders by this point, and had faith in their care of our home and intention to finish on time with attention to detail. Other things were stressful while the renovation took place, but not the building work. That we actually enjoyed. We can't recommend Totem highly enough.

Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I’ve worked with Jamie at Totem Construction on a number of kitchen projects for our mutual clients and every time it’s been an absolute pleasure.

Jamie is fantastic to work with, he’s clear and straightforward in his communication, quick to respond and always keeps both myself and the client in the loop. It makes the whole process feel easy and stress-free.

He has such a great way with clients, he’s calm, patient and genuinely keen to make sure the finished kitchen is exactly what they’d hoped for (often even better!). His positive attitude makes my job as a designer so much easier and more enjoyable.

The quality of his work is second to none. Every detail is spot on, from the precision of the fit to the flawless finish, you can see how much pride he takes in what he does.

Jamie is one of those rare builders who combines real craftsmanship with a friendly, approachable manner. I’d recommend him in a heartbeat and always looked forward to the next project we’d get to work on together.

Professional builders serving Burwell and the surrounding villages

Burwell is a well-established Cambridgeshire village with a mixture of traditional cottages, period properties and modern family homes. We are based in Newmarket - just 4.5 miles away and we can be at Burwell building projects in just 12 minutes.

For homeowners looking to create more space, extending an existing property can provide a practical alternative to moving.

A carefully planned kitchen extension can create a more spacious area for family life, while a double-storey extension may provide additional bedrooms or bathrooms.

Older properties can also benefit from thoughtful refurbishment work, helping improve their layout, appearance and functionality while retaining the features that give them character.

At Totem Construction, we undertake a variety of residential construction projects, from extensions and renovations to bespoke new builds.

Our Newmarket-based team serves Burwell and nearby communities, including Reach, Swaffham Prior, Swaffham Bulbeck, Fordham, Exning and Soham.

Whether you’re planning a home extension in Burwell, refurbishing an older property or constructing a bespoke new home in the surrounding countryside, we’re happy to discuss your requirements.
